The level of activity of the complex is at:
LEVEL YELLOW: changes in the behavior of volcanic activity – likely time for an eruption weeks / months.
944 events in connection with rigid material fracturing process called volcano-tectonic (VT) have been registered with a local maximum magnitude (ML) of 3.3. The largest was located 6.3 km to the north (N) of the main crater at a depth of 3.2 km. Similarly, it was ranked 1635 events associated with the fluid dynamics inside the volcano, known as long time events (LP), with a maximum energy of reduced displacement (DRC) of 1.0 cm2 .
Most VT type events were located in an area between the active craters and 6.5 km NNE showing a clear alignment with depths of 6.5 to 8 km, while the earthquake Type LP showed a change in their spectral content , ranging from dominant frequencies between 1.9 and 2 Hz to 4-5 Hz, with a location near the crater area and at depths of 1.5 km.
The images from the IP camera, showed no abnormal degassing of the main crater, showing a minimum gas column.
According to data obtained by two (2) electronic inclinometers, the strain measurement stability is noted in their components without showing any morphological change of the complex.
The satellite images of the OMI (Ozone Monitoring Instrument’s) (http://so2.gsfc.nasa.gov/) and NESDIS (National Environmental Satellite, Data, Information Service (http: / /satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov) which relate alerts on sulfur dioxide (SO2) into the atmosphere, reported no abnormality in the volcanic complex.
Thermal radiation released by the MODVOLC (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) MODIS on its website (http://modis.higp.hawaii.edu/) and Mirova (Middle InfraRed Observation of volcanic activity) on its website (http : // www.mirovaweb.it/) monitoring systems that indicate significant changes in surface temperature, reported no heat alert in the area associated with volcanic complex.
There are no reports of local authorities or communities about perceived anomalies in the volcanic area.
Although it had observed no changes in surface activity, increasing the VT type of seismicity and the characteristics of the seismicity LP, exceeding the reference level for this complex, suggest the appearance of deep process which involve changes in the internal behavior of the volcanic system. Therefore, the alert level is modified at YELLOW.
