Les volcans du Nicaragua y sont nombreux mais relativement peu élevés. Le plus haut d’entre eux est le San Cristobal qui culmine à 1745 m. Ces volcans sont régulièrement actifs, les derniers en dates sont le Masaya, le Telica et le Momotombo.
